Remember the Sussex Branch
By
David E. Rutan
This song was originally written as a poem commemorating
the 30th year since the discontinuance of service on the Sussex Branch.
I began singing it to myself to the tune of a folk song and later, when
our daughter, Elizabeth arrived, I began signing it to her as well.
My wife noticed that the melody no longer resembled
the tune on which it was based, and had me sing it to her so that she
could write it down. She arranged it and through the miracle of modern
technology, it is now ready for public consumption.
Here then is my Sussex Branch song. I would have no
problem with anyone with a musical bent learning and spreading the lore
of the Branch through the musical art.
