Dave Rutan is a native son of Sussex County, New Jersey and a local railroad historian who specializes in the history of the Sussex Branch of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. He has authored a number of articles for Railroad Model Craftsman magazine and the New Jersey Herald.

Dave shares his research through his Internet web site, occasional walking tours of the Sussex Branch Trail, and now his new book.

Currently, Dave hosts an email list on Yahoo with over 100 members which serves as a forum for discussion concerning the Sussex Branch.

Dave's hobbies include model railroading and speaking the international language, Esperanto. He resides in Franklin with his wife and daughter.
